Got to plant out the Squash "Uchiki Kuri" today where the Kale Vates Blue Curled where growing. After a few days of over night rain and nice sunny days the weeds were every where in this section of the Allotment. Took a long time to dig over and weed this bed ready for the Squash "Uchiki Kuri" to be put into their final growing position.
Each plant had a hole dug and compost added to help them grow nice and strong. Five plants in total and this year is the first time growing these. The last few years we have grown Sweet Dumpling winter squashes so we hope these turn out as good as those.
The Courgette "Black Beauty" have also been put in the ground at last. These six plants have been put where we had hoped the beetroot and the found Swede seeds would have germinated. The beetroot seed had germinated but then within a few days they had all gone, due to slugs, snails or birds we don't know. The found Swede seeds did not germinate at all.
Again each plant had a hole dug and compost added to help them grow nice and strong.
We have now sown replacement Beetroot Boltardy seeds into module trays at home to hopefully replace those that where lost to pests.
